Key verse: Col 4:2 “Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful.”

Thank and praise God who has led and sustained us through his words of life last year. Thank God for continually showing grace and love to us even though we were weak and unworthy.

Last year, I could continue studying John’s Gospel with David, which we had started since ISBC 2013. He travelled a lot due to his job requirements, but still he made time for the study. The study lasted until about May and since then we’re maintaining a friendship only. I pray that he may make time for the study once again. I’m also maintaining a friendship with Tony who started taking a part time course at UCC. I pray that he may start Bible study in the New Year.

ESBC was held in Willingen, Germany, from August 14-17. It was like a heavenly feast. There were Bible studies, testimonies and prayer. The messages were great. I was mostly touched by the message on Mark 11, delivered by Enoch Hong. I examined myself before God to see who the king of my life was. Then I accepted God as the king of my life once again. I could experience peace in my heart. Thank God once again for blessing the conference abundantly. After the conference, we started a family Bible reading time. We met once a week. We are reading Mark’s Gospel. We reviewed the past week and gave thanks to God. It was a small but meaningful meeting. May God continue to bless the family Bible reading time. We had a Bible reading retreat in the country from October 27-30. We read Ecclesiastes. It is a short book compared to other books; still we could learn a few things. In particular, we learned the importance of friends. “Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken” (Eccl 4:12). We prayed together that we may build a good friendship with other families and Christian leaders.

Last year, I continued studying the Old Testament with S. Paul Rhee, covering Joshua, Judges, Ruth and a few chapters of 1Samuel. It was precious and I could deepen my faith in the God of Israel. Through this study, I could store spiritual food for the future. I thank God for the continuous study with S. Paul. M. Anna became stronger last year. She faithfully taught the Bible to Joanne Sundays. I pray that God’s words may abound in her heart more and more and she may receive a blessing of teaching the Bible.

The key verse for the year 2015 is Deut 30:20. “and that you may love the Lord your God, listen to his voice, and hold fast to him. For the Lord is your life…” When Israel was going to enter Canaan, God gave them two options: life and prosperity or death and destruction. If they wanted the first option, they had to follow God’s command in this verse. This is applicable for us too. I pray that we may faithfully follow this word in the coming year.

Prayer topics for the year 2015 are:

  1. Book of Samuel and Kings study
  2. That we may grow as excellent English Bible teachers
  3. 4 one-to-one Bible studies
  4. Networking with local Christian leaders
