Teachers & Parents (T&P) Education by Isaac Choi, London
Last April 18-20 M. Isaac and Rebecca Choi visited London UBF during our trip to the United Kingdom (4/16-23). Our coworkers in London prepared time (4-7pm) on Saturday for the lecture. We gave them two lectures (one for parents and one for teachers), and question and answer session after that:
1. The godly family in the world mission
- The first institution of God, family
- The origin and purpose of family with parent’s role
- The Great Commission
- The second institution of God, church
- The vertical and horizontal way in the world mission
2. Children Bible Fellowship (CBF) ministry
- The background and purpose of CBF
- Three elements:
- Bible study and worship service
- Faith building programs
- Parents partnership
We learned several things through our visiting and lecturing. Firstly, we surprised that they have more than 20 children (with 20+ members). Secondly, all parents are teachers for children ministry. Thirdly, their desire to learn about children, family and world mission was remarkable (They offered 3 hours on Saturday for lectures in spite of their busy mission-oriented family life). Fourthly, they work together and have beautiful relationship and co-working between shepherds and missionaries.
London UBF prayer topics:
- Raise 12 disciples of Jesus through one to one Bible study
- Pioneer UCL campus through the gospel of Jesus
- Evangelize 100 colleges/ universities in United Kingdom
*T&P education: Since the school system has been introduced, teacher’s role and it’s quality were the most essential to the students. However, in our spiritual education for our growing children there is one more important element, parents. Up to now, we have been engaging in the children ministry for the last 36 years along with campus mission in Chicago.
During those times, we found the importance of parents and their roles in order to have successful youth ministry, more likely laying the foundation of spirituality upon our children.
With these two focuses, teachers and parents, we prepared several PowerPoint lectures for both of them. So it is called as “T & P education.” Simply speaking, these lectures talk about what they and their roles are, how to improve their functions and influences, what kind of relationship they have with our life of faith as well as mission as biblical standpoint.
