“You are the light of the world"

On May 24-25 Korea UBF held its national layman conference at KT research & training institute at Daejoen in Korea. The theme of the conference was "You are the light of the world" and all 485 laymen from Korean UBF chapters nationwide attended.

First, we praise and thank God for blessing this conference full of grace and truth through the main lectures and special lecture and world mission report.

All the lay shepherds were also going on the team along the direction of the program in order, and GBS and writing & sharing testimony as well. They also actively participated in the sports activities and had good fellowship with each other at meal times.

Sh. John Nah presented his testimonial video how he has kept his faith and carried campus mission, and how he overcame the difficulties at his work by faith as a lay shepherd.

Through this we realized that UBF laymen are mighty warriors of faith who carry the mission in their work and home as lay shepherds, and that they are pillars of world mission work who are following the steps of Apostle Paul. By this all the attendees renewed their true identity as UBF lay shepherds before God and made clear decisions to raise disciples among the campus students in accordance with Jesus' calling.

After the first lecture they all began to write their testimony till midnight and shared sincere testimonies with one another. Through this they could learn and greatly encourage each other in the Lord.

On the second day after the special lecture there were mission reports.

M. Barnabas Baek (Sri Lanka) had to overcome many difficulties such as an anti-Christian atmosphere and poor environment and discrimination as a foreigner in Sri Lanka which is a Buddhist country. But God gave him the victory over his school study and raising disciples as well since he came to the mission land 17 years ago.

One missionary from Japan also had to overcome cultural and language barriers in Japan as most people worship all kinds of gods and superstition. But God blessed his never giving up spirit and faith so that he won the victory over his school studies and became a professor at the Univ. of Tokyo and raised disciples as well. M. Ezra Park also presented his indomitable story of faith not shrinking back in raising native disciples and all attendees were greatly moved.

Dr. Joseph Chung (Uganda) shared his beautiful life testimony and report with humor and witty expression with his powerful voice though he is older. He was led into UBF by his friend Dr. John Jun and attended English Bible study with M. Sarah Barry; he became a pediatrician, a shepherd and lay missionary in Chicago co working with the late Dr. Samuel Lee and later on a silver missionary to Uganda.

He became a father of many Ugandan young campus souls, for he served them through the word of God and prayed and loved them with his whole heart. He also went to visit God's flock in Rwanda traveling a far distance from Uganda twice a week. Through him we learned the heart of Jesus for the sheep in him and thanked God.

Through the three heart-moving and life testimonial reports all the attendees newly learned about the spirit of sacrifice and mission and heart for the sheep and renewed the grace of salvation in their hearts.

Most of all, they learned about their faith that nothing is impossible for him who believes. And they all earnestly prayed together making decisions to shine Jesus' gospel light on the campuses and their work place as the light of the world and UBF lay shepherds.

We praise and thank God for strengthening us through this blessed conference which was full of grace and truth.

We pray that God may continue to strengthen UBF laymen in the word and grow them to be big pillars of UBF ministry raising disciples from the campuses and bearing world mission without lacking.
