Anam 1 UBF Summer Conference
On July 10-13 Anam-1 UBF held its SBC with the theme, "We are God's Handiwork (Ep2:10) at Gwanglim seminar house at Namyangju city in Korea. All 200 people including 47 Second Gens attended the conference. The conference place was surrounded by a superb natural landscape (UNESCO Biosphere Reserve area). The facilities were quite adequate making the conference very enjoyable, and we all rested spiritually and physically and were renewed in the Lord.
On the first day, our students led praise music and a heart-moving drama, “The Prodigal Son", which opened our hearts to God. They also testified about the wonderful grace given by God through their sincere and moving testimonies. In addition, our vision orchestra team which consisted of UBF Second Gens, students and graduates from Anam-1,2 UBF played beautiful praise music that glorified God. It was the fruit of having practiced the music for about a year.
There was a special lecturer, Sh. Seongwon Kim (Wonchun UBF), who testified about God's deep love and blessing for his family which led them to victory in spite of unspeakable hardships in raising disciples and his two children. As for our shepherds and their wives, we thanked God for them because they have been fully supporting the conference behind-the-scenes making a graceful atmosphere.
In particular, there were four student messengers who were raised among 11 messengers.
Sh. Guna Kim (Senior) gave opening message, entitled, “Ephphatha, Be opened”-Mark7;
Sh. Dongho Lee (Junior) gave lecture 1, entitled, “What is your name?”-Mark5;
Sh. Wonsop Lee (Junior) gave a morning devotional message, entitled, “Get Up and Walk”-Acts3,
Sh. Stephen Kim (Junior) gave lecture 2, entitled, “It is Finished”-John19. We praise and thank God for the student messengers who have been growing as powerful messengers being used by God.
Messengers from the graduates were Sh. Kwangho Lee (morning devotional message)- “The Righteous Will Live by Faith”-Habakkuk2,3; Sh. Daniel Jung gave lecture 1 – “The God who Blessed the Rekabites”- Jeremiah 35; Sh. Bansuk Park gave lecture 2, entitled, “Love One Another”- John13;
Sh. Hyunsang Han delivered the evening lecture 1- “The Prodigal Son”- Luke15;
Sh. Okyu Noh delivered the evening lecture 2-“A bruised Reed and a Smoldering Wick”-Mt12;
Sh. Jonathan Whang served the evening lecture 3- “Enlarge Your Tent”- Isaiah54;
Sh. Gunsu Sohn delivered lecture 3 – “We are God's handiwork” (the theme of the conference)-Eph2.
Especially Sh. Gunsu Sohn is going to be sent to Canada as a student missionary at the end of July according to the message from Eph2 after establishing a house church with Deborah Chang (Second Gen).
These days most people are not interested in the gospel message because they are living under the atmosphere of postmodernism, relativism, materialism, and a flesh-centered society.
Many young people's hearts are occupied with finding a job, and even our shepherds are having a hard time keeping their faith and feeding God's flock because of their busy work schedules as they struggle to support their families. But we praise and thank God that amidst these hardships God blessed all of us to be renewed with the grace of salvation and with the purpose of God’s creation for each one of us so that we will overcome the world and be used by God as God’s handiwork.
We pray that the transforming power of the word of God (which had come upon the late Dr. Samuel Lee) may once again come upon this generation so that they may live according to God’s purpose for the creation as God's handiwork --rather than conform to the pattern of the world-- and serve God's good will for this generation.
