We visited Springfield, Illinois UBF for the purpose of T&PE by the recommendation of Urbana Champaign coworkers on October 26-27. We gave two lectures followed by questions and answers each session:

  • Family discipleship (Dt 6:5-7)
  • The first & greatest commandment
  • Three theological foundations
  • The necessity of family discipleship
  • Family worship
  • Children Bible Fellowship ministry (Lk 2:52)
  • The background & purpose
  • The importance based on maturity progress
  • Three essentials

Springfield ministry was pioneered by Dr. John Kevin and Rebecca Lee. Shepherd Alex (Urbana Champaign) and Viktoria Poster (Moscow) joined and serve students together in University of Illinois at Springfield. There are 30-45 regular Sunday service attendants during the school year. It was remarkable work of God in short time. One side is 2nd generation’ and the other is shepherd’ family. We believe that God’s blessing upon their co-working was the secret along with God’s grace (Dr. John told). Relatively they are young servants of God with their demanding children. But it was beautiful to see working together for the sake of students in U of I in the name of Jesus. They are two families with five children: Timmy, Ruthy, Joshua and Noah Lee, and Vlad Poster. In a sense they are already fruitful. They are praying to begin CBF ministry very soon. T&PE was great encouragement for them.

Springfield UBF prayer topics:

1) Christian students to grow as disciples and Bible teachers

2) Non-Christian students to accept Jesus personally

When we stopped by University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign on October 25, we shared our vision for Teacher and Parent Education particularly for family discipleship with their leaders: Dr. Samuel A and Grace S Lee, M. Mary Cowen and Ye-jin Park.

University of Illinois UBF prayer topics:

  • Discipleship ministry through Bible study and obedience to its teaching during their college years.
  • Grow them as disciples of Jesus & send them out to do God’s work in this generation.
  • To raise up Bible teachers and small group study leaders to serve evangelism for U of I campus students.
