Latin American Mission Report
Latin American Mission Report by David Baik
This year was the year of four Latin Regional conferences. We thank God for granting NYUBF a great blessing to serve Latin American campus mission. It was such a wonderful blessing to be able to have personal fellowship with missionaries and shepherds throughout the year.
- Southern Latin Region Conference (January 15-18, La Plata, Argentina):
The conference title was “You are the Christ?!” God blessed with 131 attendees from 7 Southern Latin countries (Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Paraguay, Peru, and Uruguay). Many new generation leaders actively served, beginning with messages, Praise worship, dancing and drama, etc.
- Mexico Region Conference (April 2-5, Mexico):
The conference title was, “You give them something to eat!” 362 attended the conference from 14 chapters in Mexico. Some commented that the conference was like 70’s conferences because so many of them repented their sins with tears, and the conference was full of God’s grace of forgiveness. Now, Mexico chapters are praying to send out missionaries to Cuba, Trinidad & Tobago, Jamaica and Haiti.
- Central America and Caribbean Region Conference (April 2-5,):
The conference title was “Come to me!” 111 from 7 countries attended (Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, El Salvador, Costa Rica, Belize, and Dominican Republic). They were full of vision to pioneer the 16 Caribbean countries through them.
- Middle Latin Regional Conference (Aug. 20-23, Venezuela):
The Conference title was “Everything is possible for him who believes!” Even though 250 attendants were expected, the actual number of attendance exceeded far more and 360 came to the conference from 4 countries – Venezuela, Panama, Columbia and Ecuador). 2 new chapter directors among 4 chapters of Venezuela were ordained, especially Shep. Gustavo Prato succeeded to Msn. Juan Seo as a Caracas UBF chapter director. His good spiritual influence brought all his family members and in-laws. God blessed Msn. Juan Seo and Msn. Juan Baek who coworked even though Juan Seo was in LA and Juan Baek had to work in Panama and Venezuela.
