Santa Cruz I UBF (Bolivia) Leaders Conference
“… I will also make you a light for Gentiles, that my salvation may reach to the ends of the earth”(Isaiah 49:6b).
We had a Leaders’ Conference during 1 Night 2 Days from Jan 7th to 8th, 2017. Thirty five leaders in all, joining in the conference, proceeded on tight schedule from 08:30 am to 05:00 pm, next day. We studied “Terrible Times and the Holy Scriptures”(2 Tim 3: the first main lecture) and “I will also make you a light for Gentiles”(Isa 49:1-7: the second main lecture). In addition, all the leaders read “Leadership” from one month ago, and 6 of them having been chosen, held a reading symposium. On that evening Missionary Esteban Cho had a workshop on “Inductive Bible Study.”
For the last year, 2016, two shepherds on the level of ancestors, Abraham Erick and Mateo Carmelo, have been serving as directors every semester. Thank God that leaders centering around these challenge campus to have an atmosphere centering on campus mission. A certain female shepherdess joined in a campus-fishing faithfully under hot sunlight, carrying her baby on her back. Additionally Andres, the son of Abraham Erick, who is still a high school student, had a bizarre experience to take a college student as one to one bible student.
However, meeting many students, they do not remain but several students keep growing to be disciples. Overall, the reason is because spiritual situations of campus are not good. I too have known that leaders are very poor at serving a work of God’s word. I have also noticed that persons who have studied the Bible for a long time usually treat the words habitually and theoretically. Although we have many problems, the biggest problem for each of us is not to rightly accept the word as the Lord’s word.
So, we have focused on leaders’ word training, since last year. In particular, I have been checking and training a Daily Bread testimony sharer at the early morning prayer meeting every day, and 3 to 4 testimony sharers at the Friday meeting every week. May God help each leader of Bolivia grow to be a servant of word like a sharpened sword in the shadow of His hand, so that He may also make him/her “a light for the Gentiles,” in this age
