We held the 2017 New Year Conference in South Africa at Wits center and this conference was hosted by Missionary Jacob Kim. We had 90 attendants including 25 second generation missionaries. The title of the conference was, “Look forward to the day of the Lord.”

James Lee of Zimbabwe delivered the opening message titled, “Abraham’s faith and hope” (Ro4); and Uganda’s Missionary Livingstone Kang delivered the first main message titled, “With Actions and in Truth” (1Jn 3). The main point was to be complemented by practical love. We are identified as the children of God because of his love so we should show the same love to God and our brothers. The second main message was by Dr. Abraham Kim who delivered the message titled: “Look Forward to the Days of the Lord.” We were encouraged to look forward to the day of the Lord by having wholesome thinking, keep on watching, and putting our hope in Jesus’ coming. The third Main message was: “Fight the Good Fight of Faith” by Shepherd Padiet Deng. Shepherd Padiet Deng remains in the mission field although there have been many dangers and lack of good security. However, he and his family are still there by faith to serve His mission. It was a very touching and powerful message. Afterwards, Shepherd Nehemiah of Kwangju center gave a special lecture titled, “The Kingdom of God and His Covenant.” We could learn that the kingdom of God and His covenant is the key point of the Bible. Also, we heard a life-testimony shared by Missionary Charles Kim of Chicago.

This year, 17 different chapters all shared their mission reports, mostly by native leaders. We could see growing native leadership in Africa. We could also have a clear New Year direction through the grace filled Word of God. We would like to give special thanks to the LA center; Missionary Billy Park, Daniel Tourn and Dianza Lopez who served CBF and JBF program. They prepared a very good program and served second gens. We thank Dr. Abraham Kim who traveled to all the continents for the New Year message. In addition, we honor Missionary Daniel and Miso Lee of Wits center who became Missionaries to Africa.
