We arrived at San Pedro Sula, the second city of Honduras, at noon on the 24th January. It was very humid and hot with sensible temperature 40 degrees Celsius making us hard to breathe.

The country has a population of 9.1million and a GDP per capita of 2600 dollars. The former president adopted socialism and raised the minimum wage from 150 to 300 dollars as a labor policy, which caused the collapse of independent businessmen. The factories that came into this country moved to other neighboring countries. They said that unemployment is a big problem in this country. This country has a lot of rain and sunshine, so coffee and bananas are the top export items. However it has the highest rate of gun deaths of the world.

Missionary David and Elizabeth Kang have been serving ministry for the last 16 years. About five years ago Missionary David Kang was shot in a car driving and bullets hit his head and legs. However, miraculously the bullet did not penetrate his head. God protected his life. He has been suffering a lot to manage self-supporting mission. But recently he became a supermarket store owner and earns living expenses through the business.

Their pioneering college is Daniela University and some student leaders are having one to one Bible studies. Jenifer (Chemistry), Heydi (Dentistry), Cindy and Jose (Mathematics) are growing up as leaders. About 15 people attend Sunday worship service.

We studied Ephesians 1, 2, Galatians 5 and shared our testimonies graciously on Monday. In particular, Missionary David Kang testified that he learned a secret of remembering the grace of God’s calling and the gospel through the bible studies. By the help of Pastor Abraham Kim's interests and prayers, they bought a house for the center next to the university that is being used well for the ministry.

저희는 혼두라스의 제2도시인 San Pedro Sula에 24일 정오 도착 했습니다. 기후는 습도가 매우 높고 체감온도가 섭씨 40도로서 숨이 막힐 정도로 무더웠습니다. 

이 나라는 면적은 남한 정도 (11.2490 평방 킬로미터)이고 인구는 911만명. GDP는 1인당 2600달러인데 전임 대통의 사회주의 정책으로 최저임금을 150달러에서 300달러로 올려 모든 자영업이 다 몰락했습니다. 이 나라에 들어와 있던 공장들이 다른 주변 나라로 옮겨 가서 실업자가 매우 많은 것이 이 나라의 큰 문제라고 합니다. 이 나라는 비가 많고 일조량이 매우 많아서 커피와 바나나가 1등 수출품이라고 합니다. 총기사고 사망률이 세계 제일이라고 합니다.

혼두라스에는 David Kang, Elizabeth Kang 선교사 한 가정이 지난 16년간 역사를 섬겨 왔습니다. David Kang 선교사님이 약 5년 전 차운전 중에 총격 공격을 받아 머리와 다리에 총탄을 맞았으나, 하나님께서 기적적으로 보호하여 총탄이 머리를 뚫지 못했고 생명에 지장이 없었습니다.

자립을 하느라 많은 고생을 해왔습니다. 최근에는 슈퍼마켓에 점포를 얻어 생활비를 벌고 있습니다. 개척하고 있는 대학은 다니엘라 대학이고 대학생들이 일대일을 하고 하이디 (치대), 제니퍼, 호세 형제 (수학과) 등이 리더로 자라고 있습니다. 주일 예배에는 약 15명 정도가 참석하고 있습니다.

저희는 에베소서 1강, 2강, 갈라디아서 5장 공부를 하고, 월요일에는 선교사님들과 소감을 은혜스럽게 나누었습니다. 특히 David Kang 선교사님은 부르심의 은혜와 신령한 복음을 항상 잊지 않고 잘 간직할 수 있는 비결을 배웠다고 은혜를 나누었습니다.
