New England Easter Report
Journey to the Resurrection
I. This Easter season, our journey to the resurrection was led by four guiding words: Cross, Grace, Hope and Joy (CGHJ). We covered a large ground from Jesus’ cross to his resurrection by walking through Luke chapters 22-24 through seven symposium speakers. But our personal meditation was based on Luke 24:6, He has risen! Our Lord’s Cross is the gateway into his life for us. Through the cross, forgiveness was granted to me personally, and I am free now. Free to live “a new life” in his resurrection (Rom. 6:4) This is nothing but the Grace of God. Moreover, in this newness of life in the resurrection, I have Hope for my life, my family, my community, my country, my world and the universe. This hope gives me confidence in my daily living. Sometimes, life gets harder and harder, but this hope gives me a new perspective in life. I can endure life’s trials with gladness. Nothing can take away the Joy of living. “The Joy of the Lord is my strength.”
II. College students and young professionals took over our Easter Retreat Program by storm. Nearly 25 growing young leaders in our community applied their talent enthusiastically to prepare our Retreat. In all, we had nearly 55 attendants. Dr. Gideon Shin from Springfield (MA) UBF served a short version message on the Last Supper. Sarah Jeong from UNH, Durham (NH) served the children’s message on Easter morning, and Dr. Jeremiah Lee (UCONN) served the main message. Grace Lee and Joseph Lee (UCONN) were baptized. Seven symposium speakers served the word with personal application. The Easter drama, entitled, “I am right now, the Resurrection and life” was the main highlight of our retreat. Through this retreat we thought about how resurrection faith will impact our daily behavior. We may either command sin’s power to get out of my sight when it threatens us or succumb to it. Our resurrection faith will be reflected in our daily behavior.
