Work of God Displayed through 13th Healing Mission (Jan. 25- Feb. 1, 2020) in Busia District, Uganda (English/Korean)

We held the 13th healing mission from Jan. 25th to Feb. 1st in Busia district, the same place where we went last year. Total of 42 members joined this year's healing mission (31 from Korea, 1 from Canada, 10 from Uganda). For 4 days, we treated 1180 patients; 160 patients were treated in the pain clinics in the village. At the hospital, there were 60 dental patients. They could receive advanced treatment from a Korean dentist. 13 patients received a plastic surgery operation. Eye doctors also screened 300 patients and booked 50 operation patients for the eye camp, which will be held after two weeks.  We also offered education for HIV, hand washing, and brushing teeth. And we could preach the gospel through pantomimes, which described God’s great salvation work.

 
Through the healing mission, we could learn two things. First, God faithfully answered our prayers. It was the dry season, so we expected it would be very hot during camp based on our last year's experience. But surprisingly, every day it rained. So the weather was very nice. But because of the rain, patients who lived in the villages could not come to our healing campsite. So on the first day, we could not see many patients. We prayed to God, 'May you stop the rain when we are treating patients and let it rain when we are not seeing patients.' God exactly answered as we prayed. So we could see a proper number of patients for 4 days in good weather.
 
Second, God gave us wonderful co-working. In previous years, Gwangju chapter 3 co-workers were the main members of the healing mission team. But this year, more than half of the members among 32 came from other chapters. They met one another at the airport. They co-worked very well like one family without any trouble. All members participated very actively, willingly and joyfully. We did not have a surgery nurse, but Rebekah L. (neonatal department nurse) from Canada assisted plastic surgery operations well.  We could not but confess, 'God is pleased with this healing mission and guides this work by himself.'

올해 13회 힐링 미션은 1월 25일부터 2월 1일까지 작년과 동일한 장소인 부시야 지역에서 개최했습니다. 한국에서 31명, 캐나다에서 1명 우간다 현지에서 10명 총 42명이 참석하였습니다. 4일동안 빌리지에서는 총 1180명의 환자를 진료했고 160명의 환자는 통증 클리닉에서 처치를 받았습니다. 병원에서는 60명의 치과 환자가 한국 치과의사로부터 선진화된 치료를 받았고 13명의 환자가 성형외과 수술을 받았습니다. 안과의사는 300명의 환자를 보았고 그 중에서 2주 뒤에 있을 안과 캠프를 위해 50명의 수술 환자를 예약했습니다. 저희는 또 에이즈, 손씻기, 칫솔질에 대한 교육도 실행하였고 하나님의 위대한 구속사역을 표현한 창조판토 마임을 공연하였습니다.
 
힐링 미션을 통해 저희는 두 가지를 배울 수 있었습니다. 첫째는, 하나님께서 저희의 기도에 신실하게 응답하신다는 것입니다. 힐링 미션 기간이 건기라 지난해 처럼 매우 더울 것이라 생각했습니다. 그러나 날마다 비가 내리고 날씨가 아주 좋았습니다. 문제는 시골에 사시는 분들이 비 때문에 의료캠프 장소까지 못오시는 것이었습니다. 그래서 첫째날은 많은 환자를 볼 수 없었습니다. 저희는 진료 시간에는 비가 멈추고  환자를 보지 않는 시간에만 비를 내려 주시도록 기도드렸습니다.​ 하나님은 저희의 기도애 정확하게 응답해주셨고 저희는 좋은 날씨속에 적당한 수의 환자를 볼 수 있었습니다.
 
둘째는, 하나님께서 아름다운 동역을 할 수 있도록 해주셨습니다. 전에는 힐링 미션에 광주 3부가 주축이었습니다.​ 그러나 이번에는 32명 중 절반 이상이 다른 센터와 다른 부에서 동참하였습니다. 공항에서 처음 만나신 분들이었지만 아무런 문제 없이 한 가족처럼 아주 동역을 잘 하였습니다. 모든 분들이 아주 활동적으로, 자발적으로, 기쁨으로 동참하였습니다.
이번 팀에는 수술실 간호사가 없었습니다. 그런데 캐나다에서 온 레베카 이(신생아실 간호사)가 성형 외과 보조를 잘해주었습니다. 저희는 '하나님께서 힐링 미션을 기뻐하시고 친히 인도하십니다'라고 고백하지 않을 수 없었습니다.
