Emily’s & Abe’s Wedding

THEREFORE GO AND MAKE DISCIPLES OF ALL NATIONS

West LA had a blessing wedding of Emily (West LA UBF) and Abe (Asan UBF, Korea) on May 25th, 2021. The Key Verse was Matthew 28-:18-20, “19 Then Jesus came to them and said, `All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, 19 baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.’” While most people in America live with the American Dream, Emily and Abe made a decision to obey Jesus’ Great Commission, “Therefore, go and make disciples of all nations.” Before they came to the Bible study, they also followed the American Dream. But through the Bible study, they met the Messiah, our Lord Jesus Christ, and began to obey Jesus’ world mission by feeding the lost souls of Jesus' sheep.

Emily and Abe came to love each other and made a resolution to travel together to the Kingdom of God as soulmate to each other. They decided to dedicate their whole life to the campus mission as disciples of Jesus. But living as disciples of Jesus is not a piece of cake. Jesus said in Mark 8:34, “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me.” The life of a mission is not easy. It is difficult. Especially, they have to fight with a sinful culture in our nation. They have to fight the temptation of the American Dream. It is the way of the cross.

The American Dream is a fleeting pleasure but living a life of mission is the cross. The fleeting pleasure brings immediate pleasure following miserable results. The cross is difficult and painful following resurrection, true victory in life. Our Lord Jesus carried the cross on the earth, as a result, God exalted him to the highest place where every knee should bow down before Him. The beginning of the cross is difficult, but it brings the final victory at the end. Which one will you follow?  The fleeting pleasure or cross? The misery or the final victory?

Emily and Abe made a decision to go to the life of mission together. The life of the mission is a narrow gate.  It is not a wide gate where many go through.  It is a difficult life, but a truly blessed life. Through this wedding, Emily and Abe will become one. They will work together to make their life blessed. Marriage is like a garden. If Emily and Abe work hard together, it will be a beautiful garden where their future children enjoy paradise. Without the cross, there is no resurrection.  Without sweat, there is no fruit. Without the prime purpose of following Christ, there is no true blessing. Let’s celebrate and bless Emily’s and Abe’s wedding to be a sauce of blessing to themselves, to their children, and to the people around them. Let’s celebrate and bless Emily’s and Abe’s wedding that Jesus’ light will shine to the world through their life of faith.

One Word: Therefore go and make disciples of all nations!
