I AM APPOINTED FOR THIS GOSPEL

In order to set a spiritual direction for the upcoming 2022 New Year, we held an online New Year staff shepherd conference with the title of “I am appointed for this gospel” (2 Timothy 1:11) on December 6-8, 2021. A total of 78 people attended.

On the first day, S. James Kim of Yuljeon UBF preached the words “I have been appointed for this gospel” (2 Tim 1:1-18) with authority. Through the Word, we renewed our identity and calling as preachers, apostles, and teachers for the gospel. We are facing a challenging time, but as a servant of the gospel, we have set a direction to more actively participate in the sufferings of Christ through studying the Word earnestly, preaching the gospel diligently using spiritual gifts.

In the evening, we had a prayer meeting for world missions and invited continental coordinators to hear God's work in each continent over the past year, followed by a united prayer. We were all encouraged to see God's amazing work in the midst of the pandemic and gave thanks to the Lord. We also praised God for enabling us to offer the world mission report and missionary/shepherd conference, which greatly encouraged our precious coworkers around the world this year. We also gave thanks to God for enabling us to provide practical help to the missionaries in need.

On the second day, S. Jonathan Kim preached the words “Moses raised his hand and conquered” (Exodus 17:1-16). Moses prayed at the time of need and battle, and Israel experienced God's presence and power. We too can experience God's presence and power through prayers and coworking. We pray that we may serve the gospel work more effectively through faith and partnership in the new year. During the evening presentation, S. Samuel Hwang (Chuncheon), Abraham Im (Anseong), Abraham Jang (Jeonju 2), Spurgeon Lee (Jongno 2), Daniel Cho (Busan National University of Education), Jae-seok Kim (Seongdong), Mark Gu (Gwangju 3), and Caleb Kim (Jongno 1) presented their gracious pioneering testimonies. We appreciated the devotion, hard work, and prayers of the pioneer shepherds, and prayed for them wholeheartedly.

On the third day, P. Moses Yoon (GD) delivered a message, “Jesus appointed twelve” (Luke 6:1-19).

We were reminded that disciple-making is the mission Jesus gave us and found a clear direction to become a community focused on raising disciples of Jesus. Finally, there was a staff meeting with reports and announcements from all departments, followed by a united prayer.
