(SOUTH KOREA) Korea UBF Annual Music Concert 2023
by HQ
The UBF Orchestra celebrated its regular concert on Monday, November 20, 2023, at the Hall of the Korean Church 100th Anniversary Memorial Building in honor of the Thanksgiving season. Reflecting on the past year, we express our gratitude for the grace bestowed upon us by God and have prepared with a heart to praise and worship Him. This concert featured a diverse selection of music, starting with the splendid opening of Sibelius's "Filandia" and captivating the audience with Beethoven's Piano Sonata and the vocal performances that followed. The trumpet performance brought a subdued yet magnificent touch, while the orchestra's rendition of Disney Medley and Dvorak's Symphony was grand and emotionally stirring.
The choral performance in the final sequence was truly a stage of emotion. The passion for choral singing over the past year, as we gathered and practiced, was showcased on the stage. With the annual dedication to offering our best, we prepared for this concert. While almost everyone, except the soloists, may not be professional musicians, we played pieces at a professional level. Despite feeling our limitations, we presented our offering with a heart of praise and worship to God with our five loaves and two fish faith. God abundantly blessed our small faith and gave us a heart-moving performance.
Those who directly participated in the performance, akin to a joyous wedding feast, were filled with grace and emotion. Some even forget the efforts put in so far and eagerly ask when the next concert will be. One notable feature of this performance is the sight of university students and parents sharing the stage after 20 regular concerts. The image of daughters and mothers, sons and fathers standing together on the stage, transcending generational differences, is a scene of shared empathy. Music is often called the universal language, and through the orchestra, we see the ability to connect and empathize beyond generations, races, and languages.
Through orchestra activities, we pray for an attitude of harmony among us as we glorify God. Additionally, we express gratitude for the vision of growth as future musicians, especially for the soloists standing on the stage, and we pray with interest in their development as music shepherds.
