(LATIN AMERICA) The 2024 Latin American New Years' Conference was Held form January 12-14, 2024
by Isaac P.
A New Year Leaders' conference was held in Bogota, Colombia from January 12th to 14th. On the first day, Mateo (Santa Cruz 1, Bolivia) delivered the message on Psalm 1. In the evening, Missionary James K. from Chicago, USA shared his life testimony in Spanish. Reports were also presented on the ministry of Chile and Ecuador and the activities of five subcommittees including IT & Social Media, online forum, Korean missionary education, second-generation spiritual education, and Leaders' School. There was an appointment ceremony for Missionary Mark S. as national coordinator for Bolivia. Also, a graduation ceremony was held for eight fourth-year students of the Latin American Leader School, who had completed the two-year course.
On the second day, P. Ron Ward delivered the 2nd lecture, Mark 11:22, “Believe in God.” We spent the afternoon writing our sincere testimonies and sharing them with each other. Thank you for allowing this to be a time of comfort and healing as we face each other for the first time since the pandemic and share our prayer topics with tears. We shared ministerial reports from Buenos Aires in Argentina and Beliz chapters in the evening. Then, all the leaders could decide on major plans for 2024 and 2025 through free discussion. We are thankful that the Holy Spirit worked in our gatherings and helped us find spiritual direction with one mind. (Main decisions include holding a vision camp in 2024 for second-generation children aged 15 or older; holding an international conference in Latin America in 2025, which was previously operated in four regions; gathering all the conferences in one place next year; forming a committee on the history of world mission in Latin America whose leader will be Missionary Noe J. of Brazil and opening up the Caribbean 14 countries pioneering committee (Continuing to pray for the election of a chairperson)
On the third day, Missionary Juan K. (Nicaragua) preached from 2 Timothy 4, and Nehemiah K., the Korean representative, gave a closing message from John 4:35. For the first time in five years, mission coworkers gathered together, shared comfort and hope, and I gave sincere thanks to God for helping us find spiritual direction. We pray for the most suitable country and dates to host the 2024 Vision Camp and the 2025 Latin America International Conference. A total of 77 people from 19 countries attended this conference.
