Canada GTA-Hamilton, Guelph, London UBF Joint SBC, 2014

We thank and praise God for blessing our 2014 SBC so abundantly. Chapters in GTA, Hamilton, Guelph and London, Ontario, had a joint SBC at a beautiful conference place, YMCA Geneva Park, Orillia, Ontario, on July 4-6. Ottawa UBF also joined us. 165 people (of whom 76 were Bible students and UBF 2nd gens) attended this conference.
The title of the conference was “Repent and Believe.” God raised six messengers: Opening message on Mark 1:15, “Repent and Believe” by Peter Cho; Friday evening message on John 8:1-11, “Neither Do I Condemn You” by Samuel Mukwedeya; Saturday morning main message on Luke 19:1-10, “To Seek and to Save” by Jemmie Hwang; Saturday evening message on Luke 9:27-38, “Who Do You Say I Am…Follow Me? by Joseph Minielli; Sunday worship message on Romans 8:1-17, “New Life in the Spirit” by James Seo and closing message on Acts 28:20, “In His Rented House” by Elijah Kim. God blessed all six messages more than we expected. We could see that the words of God were revealed and refreshed our souls, leading us to repent and believe the good news, Jesus. He raised committed disciples, Samuel, Jemmie and Joseph as sincere and Spirit-filled messengers and we could have God’s hope to establish servants of God’s word among Canadian disciples. Also our young missionary messengers, Peter, James, and Elijah delivered very graceful messages and built up the conference greatly.
Before the conference, all directors gathered along with the messengers three times for messengers’ camp. It was very effective. All the messengers had a learning mind and revised their message again and again. Each messenger could present their best. All the participants of the camp could learn from one another and thanked God for this vessel.
At this conference there were four life-testimonies by Calvin Raveenthran, Jessica Poirier, Sophia Xu and Aaron Yu. God’s work in each of them moved the hearts of the attendees. And there were 17 GBS leaders. Among them, God raised 10 GBS leaders from our growing disciples and 2nd gens (7 for UBF and 3 for HBF). This was also a sign of God’s work for the ministry of God’s word in Canada.
Each chapter offered one or two special programs. All the programs were excellent as the expression of heart-dedication to the work of God.
Overall the work of the Holy Spirit was really beautiful covering all our human weaknesses and differences, gathering his people into one vessel to reveal his glory. What people of our times, young and old, long for is the word of God and the work of the Holy Spirit like at all other times. Then there will be the work of “repent and believe.” May we all the more give our effort for the ministry of God’s word so that the word of God may be living and active in and among us and in our campuses. Thank Jesus who came to seek and to save what was lost. May we participate in this precious work of God through Bible teaching and living as his disciples.
