The Life Testimony of Sh. Raul, Mexico
The God of Mexico
“Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God´s mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God- this is your spiritual act of worship” (Rom.12:1)
I am Shepherd Raúl Muñoz from Mexico City UNAM. I was born in a poor family. In my childhood, my parents quarreled due to my father's alcohol and adultery problems. I grew up quiet and shy. When I was in high school I saw pornography for the first time and became addicted to it. My dream was to be a powerful politician and a wealthy man. However, in 1988 I suffered amnesia and I completely lost my memory. I was so afraid.
Then, after graduating from the law school at UNAM, I procrastinated my licensing because I did not want to face the work responsibility of a lawyer. My parents agreed to divorce and it was so painful to me that I made a vow to God promising to devote my whole life to Him if He would stop their divorce.
God's answer was quick and He sent a UBF shepherdess to invite me to Bible study. In the 1998 conference I met Jesus personally. Since then, the Lord has abundantly blessed my life. I married by faith. Our house church bears much fruit by growing disciples and two daughters. Nowadays, I have my own law business.
I have received constant training through M. Abraham Hwang to grow as a mature shepherd being in charge of one of our two Sunday worship services. Now God establishes me as successor of Mexico ministry. I pray Jesus may help me to serve God by means of being humble and remembering his grace and love to me.
God's work in Mexico. Missionary Joseph Ahn pioneered Mexico City in 1982. Later, Missionary Abraham Hwang and Missionary Timothy Rhee took charge of the ministry. Currently, there are 13 chapters in Mexico. Guadalajara chapter is pioneering Dominican Republic and our chapter is pioneering Peru and El Salvador. We have sent out more missionaries to Bolivia, Argentina, Brazil, Canada and America, in total 16 missionaries. We pray God may constantly grow Mexican leaders so as to turn Mexico into a kingdom of priests and a holy nation.
We hold two Sunday services each week with 140 attendants. Also, every Friday we serve the students through Bible Café at 7 p.m. which is the time many students go to parties, drink and try to have fun after school. While the world invites them to sin, we invite them to listen to the word of God. Four days a week we have group Bible study on campus.
Every Christmas our coworkers work very hard not only by preparing the service program but also by making an environment. But it is worth it. Last year, we surpassed the auditorium's capacity and many people even had to stand since there were 580 attendants. We praise our Lord for blessing our sacrifice so abundantly. We are confident that God Almighty will help us to evangelize all of Latin America.
One Word: Mexico, a Bible nation! Amen!
