A Letter from Austin UBF
Austin UBF, TX
October 17, 2013
Hi friends,
Eph 2:22 "and in him you too are being built together to become a dwelling in which God lives by his Spirit."
We’re so thankful to God who saved us and made us his children. We’re so thankful that we have a new identity in God, and he lives in us by his Spirit. Thank you for your love and prayers. We are thankful to have you as partners for God's kingdom work.
We just wanted to petition you for your continual prayers through this email.
We are visiting the UT Austin campus at various times in the week and having talks with students and inviting them to Bible study. Some have responded.
These days, a couple of students have begun to join us to worship God on Sundays. Isaac and josh are giving messages from mark's gospel. Isaac will be giving a message on the parable of the sower this Sunday. Please pray for them.
The team is getting to also meet many young Austinites in their work places. God is breaking our hearts for all kinds of people. We are praying that we can be a light on the campus and to those we see daily in our work places.
David and Alice have begun attending pre-k school twice a week, thanks to the generous contributions of family members. They are growing in manners, among other things.
Jihan is transitioning out of her job in Chicago. Please pray for her to find a good job in Austin.
Isaac is back to being a full time worker for his old company in Chicago. We’re thankful to God who provides. Isaac rents an office space in a building downtown so that he can make friends with Austinites and be a light to them.
Christine is working two jobs. Mary is well. She’s handling the busy life of mom / wife / shepherdess by God's grace. She’s making plans to visit the campus more often, now that the kids are going to school a couple of times a week. Josh is getting more and more adjusted to his teaching job here. He’s learning to pray and depend on God more earnestly.
Living together is lots of fun. Getting in each others' hair is good. It’s helping us practice "love one another" in real ways.
We are currently worshiping in the foyer of Isaac’s office building. He worked it out with his office manager so that we could. We’re thankful to God who provided this.
Our church will be known by two names here: Austin UBF and Dwell church. We liked the name dwell because it captures that which captivated us about church planting -- that we together get the high privilege of being God's dwelling place (Eph 2:22).
We were so encouraged by grace Jeon's visit, and the visit of Pastor Ron and dr. Mark, and Anne Anderson. Seeing their faces and praying with them and studying the Word with them was very refreshing.
Josh and Isaac will be attending a luncheon next week for all the campus ministers at UT. There are 67 campus ministries at UT. We are number 67. There is an oversight ministry called CRM (campus renewal ministries). This ministry has been used by God to rid the campus of competition among the ministries. Instead, there is constant joint prayer meetings, joint efforts at reaching the lost, all campus worship, joint fasting, etc.
Thank you again for your love and support.
Many blessings on you!
Love,
Josh + team
