Isaiah 43:21, “the people I formed for myself that they may proclaim my praise.”

At 20:00 on November 12, 2012 UBF concert was held at the Kookmin University Concert Hall. The orchestra was led by Sh. Joshua Lim.

The opening piece was ‘Light Calvary Overture’ of Franz von Suppé, which was like a spirited horse galloping toward a great victory. However, it was only the prelude to Mozart's Horn Concerto No. 3. The horn part was very impressive to me, specifically because of the horn player, brother Osceas who came to SNU music school to study from Guatemala and became one of our brothers in Jesus.

And Mozart's Violin Concerto No. 5, the first movement was performed by sister Eunbe Cho and it was truly beautiful. Soon after, there was a bass tuba solo by brother Jae Hak Chung, which gave us a deep feeling of harmony between the orchestra and the low-pitched tone of bass tuba. Overall, the music in part one was filled with delicacy and finesse.

Compared to part one, part two of the concert was opened with a magnificent power. UBF orchestra led by the conductor, Sh. Joshua Lim performed 'Don’t cry for me Argentina,' a piece from a movie, performed to revere the memory of Mrs. Evita Peron. This piece overwhelmed the audience with the passionate and dynamic conducting and evoked a lot of emotion. Especially in part two, I was astonished by vocal solo of tenor, brother Sekwon Ahn. He sang two songs, Puccini’s ‘A princess cannot sleep’ and Capua’s ‘O Sole Mio’ which were so heart moving that I got lost in his beautiful and clear ringing voice, as well has his confidence and strength. Soon his solo was followed by the choir of 'At the Flower Garden’ and 'A Toad,’ which were children's songs. We all were impressed by the purity of those performances.

Overall the concert delivered an eloquent message of Isaiah 43:21, “The People I Formed For Myself that They May Proclaim my Praise.” The music itself was a mission work and a heart moving message from God, full of the Holy Spirit. And also it gave us a clear spiritual direction for us to live vigorously for the sake of our Lord Jesus and his gospel.

Once again I thank God and would like to express my deep gratitude and send applause to all the orchestra and choir members and to all who sang on that day, and especially to the conductor, Sh. Joshua Lim. Bravo!
