West LA UBF, North America

October 11, 2012

They are pioneering California State University, Northridge, a four-year university located in the San Fernando Valley, a half hour drive north of UCLA and the LAX airport. Their motto for this year is to “Preach the Word” based on 2 Timothy 4:2.

The ministry consists of three missionary families, seven dedicated shepherds, and several growing sheep. They average around 30 Sunday Worship Service attendants each week and 20 1:1 Bible studies. They have five teams that take charge of the needs in the ministry, including a Worship team (prepare Sunday message, songs, and the whole program); an Evangelism team (makes schedules for fishing and keeps track of Bible studies); a Serving team (cleans/decorates the Bible Center and prepares eating fellowships); a Fellowship team (prepares conferences and retreats, and plans for special events); and a Discipleship team (trains students to make a commitment to become shepherds).

They hold their Sunday Worship Service and weekly Bible studies at their Bible Center, one block north of the campus, across the street from the dormitories, so it is very convenient to visit campus and for students to come to the Bible center. They also hold Group Bible studies and 1:1 Bible studies on the campus throughout the week. They are currently studying John’s gospel on Sundays and have Brothers/ Sisters/Seniors group Bible studies. They have special topic Bible study on Wednesdays, and have testimony sharing on Friday evenings.

Their vision statement:
1. To be a place where college students find love, acceptance, respect, significance, guidance, and encouragement;
2. To evangelize all ten UC campuses, 23 CSU campuses, 42 private universities and 119 city colleges in California;
3. To raise up 3,000 shepherds; and
4. To make America a kingdom of priests and a holy nation.
