Go and Make Disciples

By the grace of God, from April 6-8, Ecuador UBF had their Easter Conference at Camp Pallatanga which is run by an evangelical organization.  This is the first conference in which Ecuador UBF raised Ecudorian messengers for the conference.  We had prayed for 25 attendants, but on the conference day, only 17 people registered.  Students who had been faithful to 1:1 Bible study couldn’t attend the conference.  In this situation, I fell into unbelief thinking that even if we pray, some things simply don’t work. But our merciful Lord turned the situation around and sent us 25 (including a baby, 26) attendants for the conference. Through this we experienced the living God who hears our prayers.  We repented our unbelief and learned to fear the Lord.

The conference site was located in a scenic area with clean air near Pallatanga, a mountain city, around a three hour drive from Guayaquil.   On the first day Sh. Lady (Architecture 4) put up the sign she made “A Fisher of Men” and served the message from Luke 5. Sh. Lady testified how she suffered from hatred and sorrow resulted from the wounds from lust, and an inferiority complex due to her dark skin color. She testified to the hope of Jesus who called her to be a fisher of men, and made a decision to feed one sheep. Then, M. Hannah Kim and second gen Joo Wang Kim shared their life testimonies. After that, second gens presented a worship dance and the shepherdesses a Messianic dance with a vision for the Muslim mission. It was a joyful time.

On the second day, after the group Bible study, Sh. Lisbeth (Medicine 2) delivered the lecture 1, “Son, Your Sins Are Forgiven.” While she lived a Christian life without any particular visible sin problem, she didn’t realize that she was a sinner. But through the study of John 4, the Samaritan Woman, she realized that in order to quench her thirst, she admired this brother or that brother in her heart. Through her message, she testified that our fundamental problem is sin dwelling in us and only through Jesus’ forgiveness can one solve the problem.  Lisbeth’s mother, Rosa, also shared her life testimony.  Afterward, we wrote testimonies, and in the afternoon shared them and had group Bible study on lecture 2.  After dinner, we heard the second lecture, “Father, Forgive Them” delivered by Sh. Luisa (Medicine 4). She had hatred toward her father due to his wayward lifestyle and poverty. So she entered the medical school to become rich. But at the 2010 International Conference in Venezuela, through the message, “It Is Finished,” she met Jesus on the cross and received forgiveness of her sin and became free. She had a new desire to live as a campus shepherdess. In this lecture, she testified about the love of Jesus who forgave sinners even in the moment of pain and suffering on the cross. At night, we watched a movie, “The Spear Point” which depicts the 5 missionaries to Ecuador.

On the third day, after the group Bible study, M. Andre Kim delivered the Sunday message, “Go and Make Disciples.” M. Andre Kim testified to the saving grace of Jesus, and encouraged us to obey Jesus’ world mission command and to pray for Ecuador to be a missionary-sending country.  By the help of God, we received much grace. I thank God that the three shepherdesses grew in a sense of stewardship and served the conference wholeheartedly.  We were sorry that our faithful 1:1 Bible students couldn’t attend the conference. I pray that by planting the seed of the gospel diligently this year, we may see the growth of 1:1 sheep and brothers’ ministry next year.

Our prayer topics are as follows:

1. Louisa, lady and Lisbeth may grow solidly as shepherdesses.
2. Brothers and Sisters  Pauleth, Xavier, Andrea, Jonathan, and Sellenne may grow as disciples through 1:1 Bible study.
3. To raise 1 Abraham and 12 disciples.
4. God’s guidance to start a new self-supporting business for M. Andre Kim.
