Korea UBF Web Ministry Workers’ Meeting Report
There was a conference for Information and Communication Department directors and workers March 31, 2012 at 1:30 p.m. at the Missionary Samuel Lee’s Memorial Hall in Seoul, Korea. At the beginning, the director of the webpage ministry, shepherd James Kim, delivered The parable of Ten Minas based on Luke 10:11-27.
Recently, Obama, the president of the USA visited Korea and spoke at the University of Foreign Studies with the title, “The role of Korea in international relations” and talked about Korean influence from the Kakao Talk of SNS (Social Network Service)--students attending agreed with his opinion. However, Christian influence over the internet is not very strong or indifferent not only in Korea but also world-wide. Though website workers in UBF are not recognized, we want to be faithful to serve the Christian ministry on the internet. We must be faithful like the servant in Luke 19:17: “‘Well done, my good servant!’ his master replied. ‘Because you have been trustworthy in a very small matter, take charge of ten cities.’” We expect reward from heaven and pray with vision to serve the gospel ministry and world mission work effectively.
After the message, there were several presentations for three hours: “Shepherd life using the internet” by Andrew Chang of our headquarters; “Building and maintaining a home page” by WonHee Cho of Bookak; “Personal identification and security” by KiMoon Nam of Dongkyo; “Amazon Cloud service” by Thomas Chung of Sejong; “Smartphone security and Power point for worship service” by BongJo Kim of Sungdong;, and “jQuery and Javascript” by SunKyo Hur of Shinsoo. They studied Information Technology and have been working in the IT-related fields. They covered the trend of Information Technology and various practical issues which we can apply to our ministry. Most workers are lay shepherds; they have been serving the webpage ministry while they are working as full time workers. They encouraged each other by sharing practical issues and working together to create spiritual environments on the internet. It is necessary for website workers who understand rapidly updating Technology and the Internet to work together to apply them into our ministry. May God bless the webpage ministry to be a blessing for the world mission ministry.
At this meeting, 22 attended from Kwanak, Donggyo, Baebong, Bookak, Sungdong, Sejong, Shinsoo, Anyang, Yonhee, Youljun, Inje, Jongno, Chunahn, Hankang, etc. God blessed us to have a meeting even though most chapters do not have organized website workers. At the end, we prayed together for Bible Korea and World mission through Information Technology and co-working.
