HBF Easter Conference 2012 Report, Chicago
The HBF Easter Conference was titled “Alive,” based on the key verse 1 Cor 15:22, “For as in Adam all die, so in Christ all will be made alive.” It was held at Wesley Woods in Lake Geneva for 3 days and 2 nights from March 30th to April 1st. Nineteen high school students attended this conference including 3 new comers: Tim Fernandez, Marphil Mendoza, and Michael Hu. Sam Toh, Anna Toh, Msn. David Choi, Msn. Sarah B. Choi, and Francis Choi oversaw the conference, helping the seniors with their messages and guiding the conference. All the students divided into different committees to organize all the details of the conference. While the seniors prepared messages, the other students worked in the Administrative, Program, and Art committees. Singspiration was led by Francis Choi, Faith Koh, Tim Fernandez, Esther Ahn, and Joseph Horvath.
On Friday nights, Anna Ahn began with the first message titled “The Gospel of the Resurrection” from 1 Cor 15:1-11. Josephine Wang followed with her message about Jesus’ death titled, “It is finished” on Jn 19:16-42. We ended the meeting with personal prayer and reflection.
On Saturday, we heard from Sarah Lee, John Mederich, and Mary Lim. The title of Sarah’s message was “Have Seen the Lord” on Jn 20:1-18, the title of John’s message was “Alive by the Resurrection” on 1 Cor 15:12-34, and the title of Mary’s message was “The Hope of the Resurrection” on 1 Cor 15:35-58. We had group bible studies led by the juniors (Jonathan Lee and Faith Koh) on 1 Cor 15:35-58, we played activities, and we ended with a campfire.
On the last day, everyone shared reflections in groups. Timothy Fernandez shared his life testimony that revealed the power of the resurrection in his life that helped him overcome darkness and depression that he felt early this school year. The risen Jesus came to Timothy and made him alive! After Timothy's testimony, Charlie delivered the Sunday message titled “Life After the Resurrection” on Acts 1 and 2.
Whether it be about the death of Jesus, his resurrection, or how we should live our lives after accepting the gospel, our prayer is that everyone accepted one word of God from this conference.
