French UBF Ministry Report and Prayer Topics
French UBF Ministry Report
1. Sunday worship service ministry
Since last year, M. Mark Choi has continued the practice of thematic Bible studies. He struggled to have a new lesson through God’s word in order not to become an old wineskin. By the grace of God, all the leaders and Bible students began to receive a new word and experienced their faith growing through his thematic messages.
2. Daily Bread ministry
For several years, M. Mark Choi has wrestled to eat Daily Bread absolutely in the early morning in spite of health problems. Then God inspired him through an account of George Muller who testified to overcoming health problems through struggling in prayer. So he began to wake up early and prayed hard to receive a word of God and share it with all his co-workers. Then his health problem was solved and Ene became a new faithful attendee of the Daily Bread meeting after the summer Bible conference. Now we are praying to have 30 Daily Bread attendees. Through this meeting, may our church be strengthened and the flame of the Holy Spirit fanned more and more so that we can serve Paris and all French campuses with the gospel.
3. Conference ministry
In the beginning of August, a francophone conference was held in Massabielle with 70 attendees. The title was “Fan your Flame” (2Ti 1:6). There we experienced the powerful work of the Holy Spirit that we had never seen before. All the young leaders were trained to write 10 pages of their life testimony before preparing a message or testimony. Through this, they received the grace of forgiveness one by one. Three Canadians shared their life testimonies and mission reports. From London UBF, Paul Ridge and James Wood came to support us by guiding the Daily Bread meeting and sharing a mission report. Many precious servants of God came from Bonn & Köln Germany. There were also attendees from Belgium and Switzerland. Sister Gaelle and Brother Romeo participated in it. We had a special lecture by Pastor Johan Lucas from a Belgium evangelical association. The topic was “Mission Possible.” He encouraged us powerfully to see God’s vision for Europe through his personal testimony. We thank God that he blessed us to see the Holy Spirit’s work and rekindled his vision in our hearts through this conference.
4. Disciple-making ministry
At the beginning of this year, Liivar and Ene’s family received God’s word from 1 Samuel 6 during the European directors conference in Austria. Ene glorified God by obtaining a Biological doctorate degree in October through struggling with 1Co 1:27-29. Now she is praying to become a source of blessing to the Univ. of Paris-11 through her PhD and serve 12 Bible students through 1:1 Bible study. Her husband Liivar prays to have two bible studies once a week in spite of some challenges. And our senior leaders are now growing through steady 1:1 Bible studies with students.
On December 4, we had a Christmas worship service in Notre Dame des Champs High School with 70 attendees. After many practices, Eric preached powerfully on Luke 2 and Sister Daylene Annonay shared a thanksgiving testimony. She was filled with grace because she had been finally employed after some months of a severe training course. She decided to give more of her life to God in this new year. Today there are many sisters in our ministry, so we are praying to raise seven brother disciples.
5. Self-supporting ministry
In spite of the European economic crisis since 2008, Like international was obliged to open a new store because they faced a very serious financial crisis. Many times I despaired with the question, “To be or not to be?” Nevertheless, I pray that God may use this company to support 100 missionaries by giving me wisdom and an excellent management strategy.
6. World mission ministry
In June, Mark Choi Jr. came back to France from Nigeria after being a short-term missionary there for seven months. There he co-worked in God’s ministry by teaching French to some of the leaders there interested in francophone mission and teaching the violin. I pray that God may establish many missionaries to Africa and third world countries from among our new generation.
In May, some growing leaders participated in UBF’s 50th anniversary ceremony in Korea to renew God’s world mission vision. Afterward, David Choi got engaged to Hana Clothilde Kim of Jongro II. I pray for seven new families to be established beginning with this family.
As purchasing manager of Like Intl., M. Rebecca Choi often went on business trips to plant seeds of prayer all over the world. Next year she will visit China, Thailand, Korea, India, Brazil, and Poland. I pray that God may use her as a prayer servant for these nations by meeting with missionaries and praying with them. I thank God for using France as a power station for francophone countries and world mission.
For me, 2011 was the year to struggle with 2Ti 4:2. Personally, I wrestled to challenge myself 10 times by faith during the past year. In order to fight against evil, I always had to be awakened. My Lord gave me direction through the Holy Spirit each time and helped me to go ahead by faith. For the new year, I took Lk 12:42 as my yearly key verse as my prayer to become a shepherd that feeds God’s flock with spiritual food. I pray that all our co-workers may become faithful and wise managers and give food to others.
