On Feb. 18-19, 2012, Jongro and Kwanak UBF united for a winter conference at Sungsan Youth Center in Kangwhado for two days and one night. One distinction of this conference was that not only Soowon and Wharang chapters which were pioneered by Jongro chapter, but also Sinsu, Jeongneung, and Inchun chapters joined together. By God’s grace, around 500 people had fellowship in God and shared the word of God in peace.

Special lecturer Pastor Sangbok Kim who was formerly the Hallelujah Church’s pastor and president of World Evangelical Alliance(WEA) taught that church ministry cannot be done by one person, the Pastor, but absolutely needs the participation of lay pastors and ministers based on Ephesians 4:11-12 and  encouraged us by saying that UBF is an exemplary community in this matter. Also, he praised UBF for practicing important prayer topics of Korea churches such as missionary sending and European pioneering quietly and humbly, and taught us in detail how to prepare for the future as future spiritual leaders through the Book of Nehemiah.

Lecture I and Lecture II were delivered by S. Spurgeon Lee with the title “You may be successful wherever you go” (Joshua 1) and S. Kuemchul Lee with the title “Have faith in God.” (Mk 11). Through Lecture I we learned that we would be successful wherever we go when we meditate on the word of God and obey it, even though our generation is difficult.

Through lecture II we learned the spiritual secret that when we have faith in God and pray, problems like big mountains can become small as baseballs and we can experience faith and live a fruitful life. I thank God for sending us back to the mission field with love relationships and spiritual empowerment to win the victory over the new semester even though it was a short two day and one night winter conference.

During the conference we prayed for Pastor Abraham Kim and S. David Kim, and for M. David Byun to serve CIS ministry and to register as a church with 50 Sunday Worship Service attendants; for M. David Kim in Alaska to have an independent worship service and serve campus pioneering ministry; for the good health of S. Phillip Lee and Dr. James Suh, and for the work of the word of God in Suwon, Hwalang, Jeongneung, Inchun chapters.  I pray that Jongro and Gwanak UBF may be used by God continuously as forerunners for Bible Korea and as power stations for world mission.
