Isaiah 9: 6:  “For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.”

The 2011 Northern Kentucky University UBF “Deeper Roots” Christmas worship service, which by God’s grace was held at the Baptist Christian Ministries Student Center for the second time in a row, was so full of the Holy Spirit.  

This year God raised up Shepherd Jacob Robinson from NKU to be the student president of Deeper Roots—our campus group—and as a Bible teacher and Sunday worship service presider. His friends Greg Finger, Kevin Ross, and Kaleb Starr wanted to perform for our CWS and did so well, along with Greg’s friend, to share God’s work in their lives. God also raised up shy Shepherd candidate Nate Wynn and shy Shepherd candidate Nathan Ratcliff to preside and to give the humorous opening skit with our 2 youngest children, Isaac and Rebekah. God worked on Shepherd Koin Mueller this year, since last year’s life testimony sharing, and turned him into the CWS messenger. The Christmas message on Isaiah 9: 6—A Child is Born—was full of light and life, leading the audience to recognize the son of Mary as the Son of God, the child who is also the Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. The performers led us to see the glory of Jesus. Little Rebekah’s song—The Books of the Bible—led us to realize that we need the Bible for our survival. We saw God’s glory in all the proceedings: skit, music, prayers, and message, as well as in the service of our cooks—Charley Otten and Joyce Messler, my in-laws. May God be continually glorified in NKU UBF “Deeper Roots” ministry in 2012.
