GIMNET Emerging Mission-leaders Summit Report, Korea
GEMS 2011 Report
Matthew 28:19-20 "Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age."
The GEMS (GIMNET Emerging Mission-leaders Summit was held at Sarang Church AnSung Retreat Center, Kyunggido, Korea from November 8-10, 2011. David Kim from Chicago H.Q. and Moses Yoon from Korea attended from UBF. Through this consultation, we, 32 young mission leaders and 1.5/2 generation leaders who are already linguistically and cross-culturally prepared in North America, Germany, Philippine, Hong Kong, South Korea, came to realize that God has prepared each of us for His world mission as great resources.
Especially through the GEMS Korea 2011, we, the Korean diaspora, could have deeper understanding the mother land Korean mission churches and find a sense of pride in our Christian spiritual heritage of Korea with great spiritual revival after only about a century after the Gospel introduction. After this consultation, God blessed us to visit several Korea’s historic mission sites and helped us to solidify our spiritual identity. Also God blessed us to visit Korea’s industrial development sites and helped us to understand how God has blessed Korea economically to take initiative in leading world mission in a new era. We all prayed that God would evangelize all people of the world through our Christian diaspora. Thank God who opened our hearts and brainstormed our ideas to better focus our eyes on God’s plan and His Mission Dei for this world through the GEMS Korea in 2011!
In Christ, David Kim
