Iztacala UBF Autumn Conference Report, Mexico
By God´s grace, we had our 2011 Autumn Conference from Sept. 16-18. Thirty-five people attended this conference, prioritizing it over the tradition of family celebrations for Independence Day.
The three messengers prepared their messages wholeheartedly. On the first day, Ana served Lecture I on John 8:12-36, “The Truth Will Set You Free.” She is a lawyer. She kept her personal faith over the years, but she did not grow spiritually despite having lived a life of faith for 10 years. Through this word, she recognized that her problem was a lack of fidelity and obedience to Jesus’ word. She made a decision to stay faithful to the teachings of Jesus. Rodolfo was a messenger for the first time and delivered Lecture II: “The Decision of Faith of Moses” (Hebrews 11:23-28). Currently, he is studying for a Master’s degree in Biochemistry, working in a laboratory with other scientists. After accepting Jesus as his Savior, he was faced with mockery and persecution from his colleagues. However, he identified himself as a disciple of Jesus, preaching the word to his friends. Through this word, he was able to learn and strengthen his faith. M. Isaac P. gave him the spiritual name, Moses, so that he may grow in faith like him. Israel served Lecture III: “Do you love me more than these?” (John 21:1-25). He is a medic in his third year of residency. Due to the heavy hospital work, he preferred to rest and to be with his wife Beatriz and her daughter Ruth. However, by meditating on this word, he restored his relationship of love with Jesus who took him out of his failed and lost life in a desert in the south of Mexico. He confessed his love to Jesus and made the decision to take care of God’s flock with all his heart.
M. Isaac came to serve this conference and the group Bible studies during these three days. During the course of the conference, the leaders wrote sincere testimonies, repenting their sins and confessing their newly restored love for Jesus. God gave the leaders the new direction to serve the Friday testimony meeting voluntarily and the Saturday outreach meeting faithfully.
I pray to God that the leaders may keep growing in faith and in the work of God.
In Christ, M. Isaac
