July 21-24, Jongro 7 and Suwon chapters had their Summer Bible Conference at Ansung Conference Center with the theme, “Our Father’s Great Love.” The number of attendants was 55 (Jongro 7: 39; Suwon: 16).

First, messages. These days campus intellectuals have this tendency to believe only what they can see and understand. They tend to be alone and have only a superficial relationship with others. They need to know that there is a spiritual world and that God wants to make a deep personal relationship with each one of them. In this regard, the conference messages were selected in a way that all the attendants could newly see the spiritual world and feel God’s great love for them (Luke 15; John 3, 8; Luke 23; Matthew 6; John 21). All the messengers were trained hard for three weeks sleeping at the center. Sh. Sanghoon Kwak (graduate from the Chinese Dept. who now works at Hansem Furniture) testified that there is a spiritual world and that by being born again man can see the kingdom of God.

Second, drama. Student members wrote and acted a drama on their own. Freshmen members actively participated in this drama. They really enjoyed acting and dancing. Sister Sunyoung Ha (freshman, Chinese Dept. HUFS) danced with great joy and invited all the attendants to dance with her.

Third, seminar. Lay shepherds and shepherdesses actively participated in the conference through seminars. Two lay shepherds gave a lecture to students on how to have a spiritual victory after graduation. And three lay shepherdesses had a seminar on three inner problems of today’s students: inferiority complex, addiction, and fear. They also shared how they overcame such inner problems through the word of God and spiritual struggles. Through this seminar students could have a personal relationship with lay shepherds and shepherdesses.

Fourth, testimony sharing. Sh. Abraham Kim (graduate from the Trade Dept. HUFS, now works at a consulting company) deeply accepted and testified of Jesus’ forgiving love through his message. He had felt abandoned by his father who got drunk and gave much pain to his family members through his violent behavior. But he forgave his father through Jesus’ forgiving love. Deeply moved by his message brother Yeonkyo Kim (freshman, Chinese Dept. HUFS) also made a decision to forgive his father with tears who had abandoned him by marrying a barmaid. Sister Minjeong Kim (Junior, Korean Education Dept. HUFS) testified that after serving God’s ministry faithfully for two years she became proud and was complaining at God and God’s servants. She became like a prodigal son and did whatever she wanted to. However she became miserable. She wanted to come back to God. At first, she thought that she should be doing something great such as fasting and writing a graceful testimony to come back to God. But through the messages she realized that God already forgave her and had loved and continues to love her. Finally, she made a decision to come back to God just as she was. Her repentance is the fruit of this conference.

Fifth, fellowship. Jongro 7 and Suwon chapters had a fellowship by having roasted meat out in the field. It was a good opportunity to know each other more personally and share each other’s prayer topics.
