El Salvador Easter Conf. Report
by Isidro
We give thanks to God for his great love of our Lord Jesus who diedon the cross, purifying our sins with his precious blood.
The title of our conference was “The Crucifixion of Jesus”. We prayed for 25 participants, but although many students accepted our invitation saying they would come, most of them went to the beach or outside the city with their relatives a few days later.
This event reminded of us the Parable of the Great Banquet in Luke 14 when all the guests “alike began to make excuses.” (Luke 14:18), “Then the master told his servant, ‘Go out to the roads and country lanes and compel them to come in, so that my house will be full.’”(Luke 14:23)
Norma is a sheep who cried for not being able to attend the conference, as her parents did not allow her to do so and distanced her from the city so as to avoid any contact with her. However, she continues to study the Bible secretly from her parents and broke up with her boyfriend to grow as a shepherd in the future; she has a lot of spiritual desire.
We receive the grace of God in each message. M. Raul preached the word of John 4: “I, the one speaking to you—I am he”; Edwin shared the word of Mark 1:40-45, “I am willing”-“Be clean!”; M. Daniel Park preached the message John 15:1-8 “I am the true vine” and we all received a lot of grace thanks to his excellent Spanish. Saturday night S. Juan Carlos preached the word of Matthew 27:27-56 “The Crucifixion of Jesus”- he gave the message full of grace and the Spirit of God. And finally on Sunday, M. Isidro gave the message of Mark 16:1-14 “Jesus has Risen”.
Alex is a faithful sheep. He did not have his stepfather’s permission but by faith and desire he attended the conference. But upon his return he was scolded and it is being considered to force him to go to another church. He now has a lot of persecution, hence he, too, has to come to study the Bible in secrecy.
Edwin is also one of the new sheep whom have been faithful to their bible studies and Sunday worship since 3 months ago. He along with Alex received the word of God very well. Carlos is a sheep since time, but his heart is still in difficulty; please pray that God may have mercy on him.
Mr. Eduardo and his wife Ada accompanied us to this conference. They confessed their gratitude to God for the hope of resurrection as they had just returned from Guatemala, grieved by the passing away of a relative. By Jesus they are now filled of joy.
We appreciate this family because they offered their help upon arriving here in El Salvador. Since then they too have been witnesses of the spiritual growth of UBF as a good testimony for them of how God works.
Apart from the word, we had a dance presentation through the shepherdesses and on the men’s side there was a Tae Kwon Do presentation. We also had a play.
We give thanks to God who helps us recognize we are branches and that we must remain in Jesus forever, experiencing always the grace of his love.
In Christ, M. Isidro
