ABRAHAM CALLED THE ETERNAL GOD

Passage: Genesis 21:22~34

Key verse: 33

1. God is with you (22-24)

God's blessing upon Abraham was very obvious. God gave him Isaac in his 100 years old. King Abimelek and Phicol the commander of his forces came and confessed, "God is with you in everything you do!" They wanted to make a treaty with Abraham and among their descendants forever. Abraham arranged the conflicts of the 'well' closed by Abimelek's servants. So they made a treaty about the 'well' and agreed to respect mutually and to protect their descendants. That well is called Beersheba, means "Seven wells." When God is with us and we are with the Lord, our life will be victorious and our descendants will be prosperous.

2. Calling the name of the eternal God (33-34)

There, Abraham planted a tamarisk tree. He called upon the name of the Lord, the Eternal God. He stayed long among the hostile Philistines. Abraham didn't cling to the things of this world. His hope was in the Lord who is eternal God. His success, God's blessing, the enemies' envy, and nothing could change his love of eternity and eternal God.

Prayer: Lord, thank you for blessing us as you blessed Abraham in all we do. Yet help us put our hope in God who is eternal.

One Word: God is eternal, so we will be!
