MY HELP COMES FROM THE LORD

Passage: Psalm 121:1~8

Key verse: 121:2

First, where does my help come from? (1-4) This is called the traveler's Psalm. It is one of many songs of ascents, for pilgrims traveling to Jerusalem. Such a pilgrimage could present danger and unknown trials. When the Psalmist saw the majesty of the mountains he knew that his help would come from the one who created such majesty. His help would come from the Lord. A traveler's foot may slip. He may become exhausted. But the Lord is our protection day and night. He never slumbers. He is our constant help in our pilgrimage to his kingdom. Second, He will watch over your life (5-8). The Lord protects his people from all kinds of things in this world, protecting us from harm. But he does more than keep us from worldly harm. The Lord watches over our life. He is our watchman for all eternity. Whenever we experience his help in our earthly pilgrimage, we should be mindful that is the Maker of heaven and earth. Our destination is the kingdom of God.

Prayer: Lord, thank you for watching over me in all things. You are my help. Help me to grow to know your eternal hope in all things.

One Word: Where does my help come from?
