DO NOT BE FAR FROM ME

Passage: Psalm 22:1~31

Key verse: 19

1. My God, why have you forsaken me? (1-18)

This cry was on the lips of Jesus on the cross. When David wrote this psalm, he was in deep anguish and distress--perhaps during the time he was fleeing from Saul. He was being hunted down like an animal. He cried to God day and night, and it seemed that God did not answer him. But he did not become bitter or turn from God. He praised the God of Israel who had heard and answered the cries of his people who put their trust in him. He trusted God anyway.

2. All the ends of the earth will remember (19-31)

David was sure that God would answer. He would honor God before all the people. He would call on everyone to praise God who hears the cries of the suffering, who satisfies the poor and blesses those who fear him. Someday, all the families of nations will bow down before God. People yet unborn will hear of his righteousness.

Prayer: Lord, thank you for raising Jesus from death to give victory to your people and hope to all the people of all times.

One Word: Jesus is God with us
