GOD IS MY ROCK AND MY SALVATION
Passage: Psalm 62:1~12
Key verse: 1,2
Psalm 62[a]For the director of music. For Jeduthun. A psalm of David.
1 Truly my soul finds rest(A) in God;(B)
my salvation comes from him.
2 Truly he is my rock(C) and my salvation;(D)
he is my fortress,(E) I will never be shaken.(F)
3 How long will you assault me?
Would all of you throw me down—
this leaning wall,(G) this tottering fence?
4 Surely they intend to topple me
from my lofty place;
they take delight in lies.
With their mouths they bless,
but in their hearts they curse.[b](H)
5 Yes, my soul, find rest in God;(I)
my hope comes from him.
6 Truly he is my rock and my salvation;
he is my fortress, I will not be shaken.
7 My salvation and my honor depend on God[c];
he is my mighty rock, my refuge.(J)
8 Trust in him at all times, you people;(K)
pour out your hearts to him,(L)
for God is our refuge.

1. Rest for the restless soul (1-10)
Rest for the restless soul can be found in God alone. Because David was a leader, he was the target of many attacks. People blessed him with their mouths and cursed him in their hearts. David learned that although he could not trust even those closest to him, God was a rock that could never be shaken. He found rest and salvation in God. Because he put his trust in God, he could say, 'I will not be shaken.' People spoke lies about him, so he learned to depend on God alone for honor. He found that lowborn men are but a breath and highborn men a lie. Even if they are weighed on a balance together, they are nothing. Riches cannot satisfy the heart nor do they give security to life.
2. Two things to know about God (11-12)
God is strong and God is loving. So we can trust him. We can come to him and pour out our hearts. God is ready to help. God is able to help. He alone is our refuge.
Prayer: Lord, I fix my heart on you, for you alone are my rock and my salvation.
One Word: In God alone I find rest
