GOD'S PRESENCE IN THE MIDST

Passage: Psalm 114:1~8

Key verse: 2

1. Judah became God's sanctuary (1-2)

God rescued his people from slavery in Egypt so that he could come and dwell in their midst. He wanted them to be a holy nation and a kingdom of priests (Ex 19:5,6). God is an awesome God. He brought his people through the Red Sea as on dry ground; he rolled back the waters of the Jordan River so that they could cross over into the promised land. He put his temple in Jerusalem so that he could dwell with his people there. God's people are holy because God dwells with them.

2. God's holy presence is a blessing (3-8)

All nature is awed by God's presence. The sea looks and flees; the mountains skip like playful sheep. The earth trembles at the presence of the Lord. But the Lord uses his mighty power to protect his people and supply their needs. When he is present, no one can be thirsty, for he turns the rock into a pool of water.

Prayer: Lord, come and dwell in our midst. Help us to fear you and love you and obey your command to be a kingdom of priests.

One Word: God dwells with his people to bless
