LET US GO TO THE HOUSE OF THE LORD

Passage: Psalm 122:1~9

Key verse: 1

1. Let us go to the house of the Lord (1-5)

Jerusalem was the city David had conquered and made his capital. The temple was there. It symbolizes our eternal destination. Jerusalem was the city of pilgrimage, the place where the faithful came to offer sacrifices and to worship God. For us, it symbolizes the place where we meet as God's people to worship him. Corporate worship is important. When we worship with God's people, spiritual order is restored in our lives, for we listen to his word and acknowledge him as the Lord and King.

2. Pray for the peace of Jerusalem (6-9)

God designated Jerusalem as the place for all Israelites to go and worship him. God's people need a specific place of worship and a particular body of God's people with whom they worship. To pray for the peace of Jerusalem is to pray for our spiritual brothers and friends, those with whom we worship and serve God.

Prayer: Lord, give peace to your people. May those who love you be secure.

One Word: Pray for the peace of Jerusalem
