LIFT UP YOUR HANDS

Passage: Psalm 134:1~3

Key verse: 2

1. Praise the Lord (1-2)

This is the last of the 15 songs of ascents. The pilgrim traveling up to Zion has arrived. He has come to meet God and worship him, so he lifts up his hands to God in prayer and praise. Our chief end in life is to glorify God and enjoy him forever. Our pilgrimage leads us to his presence. We enter his presence to praise and thank him.

2. The Lord bless you (3)

The Lord is the Maker of heaven and earth. He is the Possessor of all things. He dwells in Zion. This means that he has chosen to reveal himself through the history of his people Israel who worshiped him in the temple on Mount Zion in Jerusalem. He is the God of Abraham and Moses, the God of the Bible. He is the God of David, the God and Father of Jesus Christ. When we come and worship him, he blesses us.

Prayer: Lord, help me to draw near to you through the study of your word; I lift up my hands to you in praise and prayer.

One Word: Come with praise
