WRITE THE WORDS CLEARLY

Passage: Deuteronomy 27:1~26

Key verse: 8

1. Write all the words of the law (1-8)

Upon entering the promised land, the Israelites' first responsibility would be to dedicate themselves to God's covenant. They were commanded to take large stones, coat them with plaster, and write all the words of the Law on them. Then they were to celebrate a festival. This would help ensure that they would not forget his laws.

2. Confirming the blessings and curses of the law (9-26)

They were to perform a ceremony that showed them clearly that they had only two choices-a blessed life or a cursed life. Six of the twelve tribes would stand on Mt. Gerizim to pronounce the blessings for obedience, and six tribes on Mt. Ebal to pronounce curses (see 11:26-31). The people were to give their assent to every command as it was read by saying "Amen!" It would be a good start to living as God's people, planting the words of God in their minds and hearts.

Prayer: Lord, help me write your words very clearly on my heart.

One Word: Write the words of the law
