FEAR THE LORD

Passage: Proverbs 22:1~16

Key verse: 4

1. Choose a good name than riches (1-10)

Solomon teaches us what we should choose: To fear the Lord who is the source of wisdom and wealth (4); to value a good name more than great riches (1); not to despise anyone for the Lord made the rich and the poor (2); to be a prudent man who takes refuge seeing danger (3); to avoid the wicked people's path which would not prosper (4,5); to train a child in the way he should go (6, 15). Then we become blessed who can share food with the poor (9). We are free from quarrels and strife (10).

2. The eyes of the Lord keep watch (11-16)

God's eyes keep watch over all to frustrate the unfaithful people, the adulteress and the lazy people who always make some excuse not to work. God sees and punishes the unjust whether he is poor or rich. The eyes of the Lord keep watch over the righteous from all harm.

Prayer: Lord, thank you for keeping watch over us. Let us fear the Lord and shun evil and become source of blessing.

One Word: Live before the eyes of God
