FIX OUR THOUGHTS ON JESUS, Ron Ward
FIX YOUR THOUGHTS ON JESUS
Passage: Hebrews 3:1~6
Key verse: 1
Jesus Greater Than Moses
3 Therefore, holy brothers and sisters,(A) who share in the heavenly calling,(B) fix your thoughts on Jesus, whom we acknowledge(C) as our apostle and high priest.(D) 2 He was faithful to the one who appointed him, just as Moses was faithful in all God’s house.(E) 3 Jesus has been found worthy of greater honor than Moses,(F) just as the builder of a house has greater honor than the house itself. 4 For every house is built by someone, but God is the builder of everything.(G) 5 “Moses was faithful as a servant(H) in all God’s house,”[a](I) bearing witness to what would be spoken by God in the future. 6 But Christ is faithful as the Son(J) over God’s house. And we are his house,(K) if indeed we hold firmly(L) to our confidence and the hope(M) in which we glory.

1. Consider Jesus, our apostle and high priest (1-2)
We share in a heavenly calling with Jesus, our apostle and high priest. We are encouraged to fix our thoughts on Jesus. He was faithful to God, who appointed him. To do so, he left the glory of heaven to dwell among us, to share in our humanity, to die as our atoning sacrifice, and was raised to glory after suffering. He is our high priest, in whom we find merciful understanding to help us as we strive to be faithful to our calling as well.
2. Consider Jesus, the Son over God's house (3-6)
Moses is respected as God's servant. Yet Jesus is worthy of greater honor than Moses in two ways. While Moses is part of God's building, Jesus is the builder. Moses identifies as the servant in God's house, while Jesus is the Son over God's house. In fact, all Moses did bears witness to Jesus. Let's hold firmly to our confidence and hope in Jesus, our glory.
Prayer: Father, help me fix my thoughts on Jesus as I share in the heavenly calling you gave me today.
