LIFE BLOOD MAKES ATONEMENT

Passage: Leviticus 17:1~16

Key verse: 17:11

First, proper sacrifices to God (1-9).The Lord commanded sacrifices be made only on the altar at the tent of meeting lest they be guilty and cut off from God's people. This was to stop pagan practices and idolatry. The priest, as the Lord's servant, had to splash the animal blood on the altar. God prescribed a holy offering, place and servant for an acceptable sacrifice. This command was both for Israelites and foreigners. God determines the way sinners are accepted. Now, the way to forgiveness and fellowship with God is through Jesus Christ (Heb 10:19-22). Second, don't eat blood (10-16). God prohibited anyone from eating animal blood, because blood represents life. Blood also makes atonement or 'covers' their sins. Eating a torn or dead animal required washing to make a person clean. Any violation would result in being guilty and cut off. Cleansing and forgiveness before holy God requires bloodshed (Heb 9:22).

Prayer: Lord Jesus, you shed your holy blood to make me clean and holy. I thank and praise you for your love and mercy.

One Word: Cleansed and made holy by His blood
