THE LORD'S SERVANT BRINGS JUSTICE

Passage: Isaiah 42:1~25

Key verse: 3

1. He will bring justice to the nations (1-17)

The promise of Israel as God's chosen servant is fulfilled in Jesus (Mt 12:18-20). He gently cares for bruised reed and smoldering wick people. Jesus faced opposition, yet never faltered or was discouraged. Instead, he faithfully brought justice to individuals and the world through his miracles, preaching, and ultimately his death on the cross and glorious resurrection. Jesus raised disciples, who have shared his light to all peoples of the world even until today. The idols of the world are all perishing and diminishing, while the song of praise to God is echoed in the testimony of people all over the world, who once were blind, but now see.

2. His law is great and glorious (18-25)

Israel was blind to this great promise and purpose. They paid no attention. Yet all this was prophesied by God in his law. When they broke his law, they were punished. His word is sovereign over all things.

Prayer: Father, thank you for Jesus, your chosen and gentle servant. Help me trust in his justice.

One Word: Jesus is a light to the Gentiles
