ARISE, SHINE, FOR YOUR LIGHT HAS COME

Passage: Isaiah 60:1~22

Key verse: 1

1. Nations will come to your light (1-14)

With the coming of the new covenant in Jesus, our "light" has come (Jn 1:4). This shining light draws all people of the nations to it, including scattered sons and daughters. This light makes us radiant and fills our hearts with joy. The kingdom of God, the City of the LORD, Zion of the Holy One of Israel, will be where all peoples of all nations bow before one throne and king. This is our hope and goal as we shine the light of truth to the world.

2. The LORD will be your everlasting light (15-22)

It is God who will do this, making his people the everlasting pride and joy of the generations. He will reveal himself that all may know him as our Savior, Redeemer, the Mighty One. There will come a day, and it is coming swiftly, where we will need no more the light of the sun and moon, for the LORD will be our everlasting light (Jn 8:12). This is our hope and destination (Rev 21:23).

Prayer: Father, thank you for Jesus our light. Let me arise and shine him to the world, as I await his coming and the kingdom of God in fullness.

One Word: Let your light shine today
