NEW HEAVENS AND A NEW EARTH

Passage: Isaiah 65:1~25

Key verse: 17

1. God holds out his hands to an obstinate people (1-12)

God revealed himself to those who did not seek him. He is holding out his hands, wanting to draw all people to himself. But God's people are obstinate, arrogant in their idolatry, provoking God's wrath. He will pay it back in full through the judgment. God retains a remnant, those whom he will bless, his chosen people, his servants, made up of descendants from Jacob and Gentiles who did not seek him (Ro 10:20).

2. A people blessed by the LORD (13-25)

God will make the lives and destiny of his servants a great contrast with that of those who reject him. His servants will eat and rejoice, be secure, and live long. God is creating a new heavens and a new earth, a New Jerusalem, for his chosen ones, his servants, to inherit. This will be a delight to the Lord, a place of peace and joy. Blessed are the people of God. We long and hope for this kingdom.

Prayer: Father, thank you for revealing yourself. Help me trust you as I hope in a new kingdom.

One Word: Be glad and rejoice in what I will create
