IS THERE NO BALM IN GILEAD?

Passage: Jeremiah 8:4~9:6

Key verse: 8:22

1. They cling to deceit (8:1-17)

God's people didn't repent of their wickedness. They clung to deceit and refused to return. They were like a reckless battle horse. They were worse than birds that know when to migrate. They didn't know the requirements of the Lord. They thought they were wise since they had God's law, but they didn't keep it! Verses 10-12 is repeated from 6:12-15. God would take away their harvest and give them poisoned water and venomous snakes.

2. Jeremiah's tears (8:18-9:6)

Jeremiah's heart was faint and he felt crushed. He cried for a healing balm for his people's wound. His eyes were a fountain of tears. When they did not acknowledge the Lord, they lived in lies, slander and deception. They could not trust their family or friends, for no one spoke the truth.

Prayer: Lord, we acknowledge you. Heal us and save us.

One Word: Acknowledge the Lord
