A USELESS BELT

Passage: Jeremiah 13:1~27

Key verse: 10

1. A useless linen belt (1-14)

God told Jeremiah to buy a linen belt, wear it, then hide it among rocks. Later, it was useless. Like the belt, God bound his people to him, but they became useless. Next, he used a wineskin to symbolize that God would fill them with drunkenness and smash them against each other without mercy.

2. Because you trusted in false gods (15-27)

They hoped for light, but darkness and gloom were coming (16). Royalty would lose their crowns (18). Judah would be carried into exile (19). Why did this happen? Because of their many sins (22). They forgot God and trusted in false gods (25). They committed spiritual adultery in their unfaithfulness to God (27).

Prayer: Lord, save us from our stubbornness and idolatry. May we never forget you, but trust and fear you.

One Word: Don't be useless; repent of sin and trust God
