DAVID DANCED BEFORE THE LORD

Passage: 2Samuel 6:1~23

Key verse: 14

1. The Lord's wrath breaks out (1-13)

David wanted to bring the ark of the Lord to Jerusalem, but he did not move it in the way prescribed by the Bible (1Ch 15:2), so God displayed his holiness, and Uzzah died. David feared God, so he left the ark in Obed's house. God blessed Obed's house. David studied the Bible, and then he had the ark brought to Jerusalem in God's way. He sacrificed a bull and fattened calf to worship God and seek his mercy in bringing the ark to Jerusalem.

2. David celebrates before the Lord (14-23)

When King David could finally bring the ark to Jerusalem, he was so happy. He did not act like a dignified king, but like a little child. He leaped and danced before the Lord. His joy came from an intimacy with God through worshiping him and seeking him wholeheartedly. He was completely free. Conversely, his wife Michal was a proud princess who did not share his joy of worship. She did not understand David's heart or see him as God's servant. She despised him. When the ark was in place, David blessed everyone, but he could not bless his own household. Michal became a miserable woman because of her pride.

Prayer: Lord, teach me to fear you and love you and rejoice before you. Help women to respect their husbands.
