PHARAOH, A FALLEN TREE

Passage: Ezekiel 31:1~18

Key verse: 9

1. Egypt, a great tree, like Assyria (1-9)

The LORD gave Ezekiel a prophetic message for Egypt's king and nation. Who could compare with them in majesty (2)? They were like Assyria (3), who were made beautiful and prosperous by God (9). These nations towered high like a cedar of Lebanon, with nations living in their shade like birds and beasts (5-6). Even trees in Eden weren't as beautiful (8). God is the one who made them beautiful, majestic and abundant.

2. You too will be brought down (10-18)

Egypt and Assyria were allied against Babylon. Assyria had already fallen. Now, Egypt would also be felled by the sword of Babylon (18). Their problem was pride (10).

Prayer: Lord, forgive my proud mind and attitude. You, Lord, give beauty, majesty and abundance, and you also bring down the proud. You alone are worthy of praise.

One Word: God gives beauty or brings down
