A FINAL LAMENT OVER PHARAOH

Passage: Ezekiel 32:1~32

Key verse: 15

1. Egypt to be caught and destroyed (1-16)

Egypt is likened to a captured sea monster caught in a net and dragged on land to be devoured (2-4). See the repeated words "I will" about all that God would do. God would bring darkness and destruction that would cause kings to shudder (8-10). God was bringing Babylon's sword to shatter their pride and overthrow their hordes (12). Then they would know the LORD.

2. A gathering of the fallen dead (17-32)

Ezekiel's final wail is for Egypt to enter the realm of the uncircumcised dead nations. All these nations had spread terror in the land of the living, like Egypt. All their armies had been slain, fallen by the sword. They all had to bear their shame with those who go down to the pit.

Prayer: Lord, you do what is right and just so that all people will know that you are the Lord. Thank you, Lord Jesus, for bearing our shame down to the pit.

One Word: All will know that he is the Lord
