OBEY GOD'S WORD

Passage: 1Kings 6:1~38

Key verse: 12

1. God's word to Solomon (1-13)

King Solomon made elaborate plans for the temple. It would be a large, three-story structure with a main hall, inner sanctuary and multiple side rooms. A long portico would extend from the front of the main hall. The building site was kept quiet to create a sacred air. Then the LORD reminded Solomon that observing God's law would bring the fulfillment of his promises to David. God would live among his people. The temple was grand but obedience to God's word would continue to be the basis of God's blessing and relationship with his people.

2. God's word in the inner sanctuary (14-38)

The inner sanctuary, the Most Holy Place, held the ark of the covenant which contained the Ten Commandments. God's word would be in the heart of the temple. The inner sanctuary was overlaid with gold. A pair of wooden cherubim spanned its width. This cube-shaped room represented God's dwelling place. (6:20; Rev 21:16)

Prayer: Lord, thank you for dwelling with me through Jesus Christ. Help me to live by your word, rather than depending on my own works.

One Word: Live according to God's word
